Product description

Disposable Bowie & Dick test strips, supplied in a ready-to-use pack, for assessing steam penetration in Class B autoclaves.

Allows verification of air removal in a saturated steam autoclave with fractional vacuum and the corresponding vacuum conditions within the autoclave chamber.

It highlights cases of autoclave malfunction.

Following the vacuum stages, the chemical indicator in the Test Card changes colour to dark, indicating that air has been sufficiently removed to allow complete steam penetration. If residual air remains trapped during the steam exposure phase, the colour change will be incomplete and non-uniform.

Complies with ISO 11140-1 and ISO 11140-4 for the Type 2 section.

Hints

Instructions for use:

- Place the B&D Test Pack inside the empty sterilisation chamber on the lower shelf below the drain, with the chemical indicator strips on the sheet facing upwards.

- Perform the test with the chamber empty; the test is accurate when performed with an empty chamber. Do not use the cycle to sterilise any devices or packs.

- Start the sterilisation or test cycle if the autoclave has a specific one. Remove the B&D Test Pack from the autoclave.

- Open the B&D Test Pack and examine the B&D Test Sheet. The test is considered positive if the chemical indicator has changed colour uniformly and consistently to the prescribed shade. The autoclave cycle phase is functioning correctly.

- Record the information and retain the test.
