Product description

Shore A 25/26 podiatric silicone in polycondensation paste form, specifically designed for the manufacture of corrective and stabilising orthoses, with regenerative and antibacterial properties.

Thanks to its innovative formula incorporating biotechnological components, it prevents maceration and the proliferation of bacteria, making it suitable for the warm, humid environment inside footwear.

It can be mixed with silicones from the same range with different hardnesses to achieve specific Shore values, and can be catalysed with any paste, liquid or gel catalyst.

The working and setting times are very fast, ensuring precise and effective work.

It is easy for professional operators to handle and finish using cutting tools (scalpel blades) and rotary tools (cutters).

How to use

How to use polycondensation podiatric silicone paste?

Catalyst dosage, mixture preparation and curing times for the manufacture of polycondensation silicone orthoses.

Hints

Proper care: once the orthosis has been made, wait 24 hours before having the patient wear it. The orthosis can be washed with water and mild soap, dried by dabbing with a cloth or left to air dry. Dust generously with talcum powder.

Frequently asked questions
How much gel catalyst is required, based on the quantity of silicone?
The ratio is 100:2.5 by weight, i.e. 0.25 g of gel catalyst for every 10 g of silicone. Some examples: 10 g of silicone with 0.25 g of catalyst, 20 g with 0.5 g, 30 g with 0.75 g, 40 g with 1 g, 50 g with 1.25 g, 60 g with 1.5 g, 80 g with 2 g and 100 g with 2.5 g. We recommend weighing the silicone and catalyst using precision scales and not exceeding the specified amount: an excess of catalyst can reduce the lifespan of the orthosis.
What are the consequences of using an excess catalyst?
Using too much catalyst accelerates the catalytic reaction excessively, may cause clumping and reduces the lifespan of the orthosis. We recommend using only the specified dose.
How long do you have to mould the orthosis?
The working and setting time is approximately 5 minutes. The silicone should be applied and shaped as soon as the mixture begins to harden.
How long after treatment can the patient start wearing the orthosis?
After 24 hours, once the vulcanisation process is complete.
Can Strong silicone be mixed with silicones of different hardnesses?
Yes, it can be mixed with paste silicones from the same range but with different hardness levels to achieve an intermediate Shore hardness.
Can it be mixed with A+B two-component silicones?
No. Catalyst-cured polycondensation silicones cannot be mixed with two-component polyaddition silicones.
For which orthoses is Shore A 25/26 silicone recommended?
For corrective and stabilising orthoses, which require a stiffer silicone.
How do you clean a silicone orthosis?
Wash it with water and mild soap, pat it dry with a cloth or leave it to air-dry, and then sprinkle it generously with talcum powder.
